Sisters in Crime is a literary society with a shared
interest in women's crime and mystery fiction. They also
sponsor the
Davitt Awards, an annual award for the best crime novel by
an Australian woman.
Sisters in Crime named the award The Davitt in honour of
Ellen Davitt (1812-1879) who wrote Australia’s first mystery
